Suno Mispronouncing Your Lyrics? How to Fix Pronunciation
One word keeps coming out wrong — the wrong vowel, a swallowed syllable, a number read out oddly. Suno guesses sounds from spelling, so the fix is to change the spelling.
Why Suno mispronounces words
Suno sings lyrics largely from how they are spelled, not from what they mean. That’s why silent letters, words with two pronunciations (like “read” or “live”), acronyms, numbers and unusual names get mangled. The model is guessing a sound from letters.
The main fix: respell the problem word
Write the word the way it should sound. Change only the word that’s wrong, not the whole line. Typical examples:
read(past tense) →red;read(present) →reedlive(as in a live show) →lyvebass(the instrument) →bayss, or the fish sense →bass
Because the result depends on the model, test a respelling and adjust it — your first attempt at the phonetics isn’t always the one that works.
Other things that help
- Spell out numbers and acronyms: write “twenty twenty-six” instead of “2026”, or space out letters in an acronym.
- Shorten crowded lines: very long lines with many syllables are more likely to be slurred; give hard words room.
- Move the word: a difficult word at the start or end of a phrase is often clearer than one buried in the middle.
- Use hyphens carefully: hyphenating a word can split it into separate sounds, which sometimes helps and sometimes makes it worse.
Fix it before you generate
Once a track is generated, its pronunciation is fixed in the audio. The correction has to happen in the lyrics before the next generation, so keep the respelled version in your lyrics and regenerate.
